The Third Jazz Live Event Creating a Buzz in Ichikai
Hosted by Oyaji no Hamburg on May 17
The jazz event “348 (Sashiba) JAZZ Festival” will be held on Sunday, May 17, at Roadside Station Sashiba no Sato Ichikai in Ichikai Town.
The event is hosted by Oyaji no Hamburg, a tenant inside the roadside station. Following the first and second events held last August and December, this will be the third edition. With more visitors each time, it is becoming one of the roadside station’s signature events.
The featured performer is Kazuki Kurokawa, a 28-year-old saxophonist from Moka City. Centered on jazz and fusion, he is an accomplished musician active on the front lines, performing live and recording with well-known artists.
This event began through the connection between Yoshiharu Tsurumi of Oyaji no Hamburg and Mr. Kurokawa, who were senior and junior members of the Moka High School brass band. Since then, the event has been held each time with Mr. Kurokawa at its center.
He will be joined by pianist Yuki Ishizawa. Mr. Ishizawa studied jazz at Kunitachi College of Music and won the Outstanding Soloist Award at the Yamano Big Band Jazz Contest. Based in Tokyo, he is active in a wide range of fields, including trio performances, support performances, composition, and arrangement.
On the day of the event, the two musicians will perform as a duo, presenting jazz standards, film music, and original pieces.
Oyaji no Hamburg, the organizer, says, “We want to enhance the appeal of the roadside station through food and music.”
The performance is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free. The event will be canceled in case of rain, with a rescheduled performance planned for a later date.
